Go64 makes it easy to plan for the future.
When the Mac has been restarted, no 32-bit process will launch, including 32-bit apps, web plugins, preference panes, software components, or background tasks and processes. Try launching a 32-bit app when the Mac is in 64-bit mode, and the app will fail to launch and display a message showing that the app cannot be opened.
In fact, if the Obtained from value for the app in question is Mac App Store, Apple, or Identified Developer, chances are that this app will make the transition to 64-bit at some point in the future. Apr 13, 2018 From the Apple menu, click About This Mac and then scroll to the System Report button. Under Software, choose Applications. When you choose an individual application, all you need to do is check the ’64-bit (Intel)’ field to see if it’s marked ‘yes.’ If so, you’re good to go and your app will continue to work after the transition. Oct 31, 2019 To see if a particular software program is 32-bit or 64-bit, click the Finder icon (the blue/white smiley face in the Dock). Click the Apple icon at the top left of your screen. Apple has announced that macOS 10.14 will be the last version capable of running 32-bit applications.
As Apple finalizes its transition to all-64-bit code, Mojave and High Sierra present an alert like this when you launch a 32-bit application. While it's not a crisis at present, you'll need to update or upgrade those applications before you update to macOS 10.15 later this year.
- Take an inventory of the apps on your Mac and see which ones are still 32-bit.
- Go to a developer's website or search the web for update or upgrade information.
- Keep track of upgrade costs so you can plan your spending to get all the upgrades you need.
Which apps will stop working after Mojave and why?
Any app that's built with Apple's 32-bit software libraries will need to be updated so it will run in 64-bit mode. These are primarily older applications, but some newer specialty apps are also still 32-bit.
As Apple says, 'The technologies that define today's Mac experience—such as Metal graphics acceleration—work only with 64-bit apps. To ensure that the apps you purchase are as advanced as the Mac you run them on, all future Mac software will eventually be required to be 64-bit.'
Apple's support article explains how to use the built-in macOS System Report to identify 32-bit apps on your system.
However, once they've been identified, looking them up and locating the developers' contact information can be a painstaking process if you've got more than a few. In addition, the System Report doesn't account for apps that are themselves 64-bt, but that contain 32-bit plugins, frameworks or services. These apps may or may not run correctly on macOS 10.15. That's why we made Go64!
For more information on 32-bit apps and compatibility, see Apple's support information at https://support.apple.com/en-us/ht208436.
The current version of Go64 is 1.1.1. For full list of changes in each release, see the Go64 Change History.

With iOS 11, Apple phased out support for 32-bit iOS apps, and it had announced that macOS High Sierra 10.13 will be the last release to support 32-bit apps.
So looks like it has started preparing Mac users about the lack of support for 32-bit apps as in macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 Apple has started showing an alert the first time you launch informing users that the “app is not optimized for your Mac”.
It means that you have to either hope that developers will release 64-bit versions of their apps or you will have to find an alternative 64-bit app that offers similar or better features.

If the 64-bit version is not available, then contact the developer to check if they plan to release the 64-bit version soon. You can find the name of the developer of an app, by launching the app, then clicking the app name in the menu bar and selecting “About….”, so you can search for them on Google to contact them.
If Apple does drop support for 32-bit apps in macOS 10.4, then you don’t need to worry it as there is still quite a lot of time left as it would only be released in September or October.
